Message Your question

If you don't mind, could you please expand on your comments to me about
"good luck with your boost jets," in your response to my post about the 400
HP Z's with stock turbos?

Hey bro,

Sure no problem. As you may know a boost jet is a very inaccurate means of building pressure in a turbo charged system. It will never hold a steady boost charge due to it's design. It simply bleeds boost pressure off while creating a dam like affect in the actuator line. So it spikes and gives off uneven measure of boost. Now you will get a top measure sure, but it's no adjustable. Where if your compression is low, Vac leak, bad clamp or any other factor causing you not to hit a present level, it would show if you where using a boost controller. Plus each car is different and you have one size jet in the car, say it boost to 17psi or 18 even and you hit something like 390rwhp. Now if you where to do another run with your set up, the number will come back lower due to heat soak and un-justable pressure. Where with a BC, you can raise and lower and it's measure by the BC stepping motor that comes with the BC set up. So dial 18psi it goes to 18psi and if not you'll know you have a leak somewhere. You can watch the BC screen as it measures the boost rasing. Land a 390rwhp at 17psi, dial it up 2 psi to 19psi ( on race gas only ) and clear that 400rwhp. In a nut shell, it's far more adjustable given that all cars read differently to pressure and upgrades.
